So I ran in the Barrington Mother’s Day 5k this last Sunday.

It was quite a challenge. Barrington is a lot more hilly than I thought it would be, and the entire course was hills; no flat ground…boo.

I finished the race in 33:56 which, in my opinion, for someone who hasn’t run a single mile in going on 10 years now, is pretty fantastic. I’ve been training for it for the last month and a half and thanks to my sister Lindsey, have been able to run far longer than I ever thought possible. She deserves all the credit in the world for her fantastic support.

The reason I mention it as my second 5k, is because the Thursday before the race, Lindz and I had run a 5k on the treadmill in her appt’s fitness center. So I knew I could technically do it; I wasn’t expecting the hills though.

A while ago I had a question about java related stuff when I was perusing the elasticsearch source code. Turns out what I was looking for was Java Generics. There’s a whole body of literature on the topic, and while I only vaguely understand it, at least I have a term that I can search for on Google.

I also recently bought a set of Under Armour (shirt and pants) to use when running and cycling. Man, I’ve never worn anything like it and it feels very weird. I guess it’s one of those things you’d get used to after a while, but the first time I put it on, I felt like I was trying to squeeze into a size X-Small; it wasn’t very flattering.
